Taste the TV (TTTV) invented by a Japanese University professor has created a tornado in the food-technology world.  This device utilises a carousel of 10 flavour canisters like sweet, sour, spicy and savoury, that spray in unique combinations to let users taste a particular food. A clickable transparent hygienic sheet rolls over the flat-screen TV and puts it in the approximate location of the food shown on the TV. Viewers can lick this sheet to taste a wide variety of food flavours. A professor in Meiji University in Tokyo revealed to Reuters, that this invention can enhance the manner in which people connect and interact with the outside world amid the pandemic.

The Taste TV successfully combines video images with realistic tastes. In fact, this invention can help with distance learning for cooks and sommeliers and also give rise to tasting games and quizzes. Welcome to the future! The test demonstrations of this Taste TV offer a wide menu for also alcohol tasting. The research team used a rubbery fake tongue to taste the flavours dropped on the display. Professors Miyashita stated to Reuters that they’re thinking of launching a platform where tastes from across the world can be distributed as ‘taste content’.
