OMICRON THREAT NOT OVER YET

156 fresh Omicron cases in a day. Delhi overtakes Maharashtra as top contributor,Omicron threat for India is increasing.

(The Quiver) India’s Omicron case count went up by more than 100 in the past 24 hours as known from the daily brief issued on Monday by the Union ministry of health and family welfare. Government data pointing to India’s Omicron tally increased from 422 on Sunday to 578 a day, which means that the country added 156 cases of the highly infectious variant to its nationwide tally in the single-day stretch between Sunday and Monday.

Fresh cases of new Covid-19 Variant, Omicron is reported by multiple states. On Sunday, two states – Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh,

reported their very first cases of the new rapidly-transmissible variant. The data shows, Omicron has now spread to nineteen states and Union territories in India putting the entire country on high alert.

 Previously Maharashtra was contributing the highest number of Omicron cases in the country. Now Delhi, the national capital has overtaken Maharashtra as the highest contributor to the nationwide Omicron tally.

According to the official data, as shared by the health ministry, Delhi has reported the highest number of Omicron infections number 142 cases in the country, followed by Maharashtra in the second place ,141 cases reported, Kerala reported with 57 cases, Gujarat repeated 49 cases, Rajasthan reported 43 cases, Telangana reported 41 cases, Tamil Nadu reported 34 cases, and Karnataka reported31 cases.
