MLA & Former Speaker Kishore Mohanty Passes Away

(The Quiver) Brajrajnagar MLA and former Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly Kishore Mohanty passed away at age 63 on Thursday. The senior BJD leader passed away from a cardiac arrest today evening. He took his breathe at a private hospital in Jharsuguda.

This veteran political leader of western Odisha was elected three times to the Assembly from Jharsuguda. He was the Government Chief Whip for four years during 2004 to 2008 and also elected to the Rajya Sabha.

Mohanty was first elected to the Assembly in 1990 and has been a key leader from western Odisha during his career spanning 30+ years. A former Minister, Speaker, Western Odisha Development Council Chairman, Mohanty, a native of Jharsuguda donned many hats and discharged his responsibilities successfully.

Chief Minster of Odisha, shri Naveen Pattanaik expressed his sorrow on this sudden loss.
