Priyanka is Congress’ CM Face In Uttar Pradesh

(The Quiver) : Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday announced herself as the face of the party in the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. During a press conference, on being questioned, who is the ministerial face of the Congress? she said, “I am the face of the party. Do you see any other face from the party in the state?”

Priyanka Vadra’s statement is likely to have a political impact, as it is the first time she has made a statement like this. However, the general secretary of the All India Congress Committee in charge of Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Vadra remains tightlipped about the disclosure of her candidature in the state.

The state will vote in seven phases between February 10 and March 7. The result will be declared on March 10.

In October last year, Priyanka Gandhi had announced that Congress will give 40% of its tickets to women in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, sparking speculation that a woman could be nominated as the party’s candidate for the state’s CM. Priyanka Gandhi had earlier released the women’s manifesto where the party promised various incentives and projects for women if the Congress came to power.

The party later launched the ‘Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon’ campaign as well to woo women voters of UP. The party also launched “button dabao, scooty pao” challenge wherein people will be asked to answer a quiz on Congress’ women manifesto. The person to answer the quiz fastest will win a two-wheeler.

UP elections poll will decide Priyanka’s fate , the elections results will show how much successful is Prinyanka in winning the hearts of UP public voters.
