State Election Commission Announcement For Panchayat Elections 2022

(The Quiver) : Today ,The State Election Commission (SEC) of Odisha has announced relaxation on  some previously imposed COVID-19 restrictions , in the last month for Panchayat Elections- 2022. Keeping in view the declining rates of COVID-19 infections such announcement is done.

State Election Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhee today said the previous guidelines have been modified after a review of the current COVID situation.

According to the revised guidelines , earlier five persons were allowed for the door to door campaign, after relaxation now the poll candidates can carry out door-to-door campaign taking 20 persons, including the contestant himself .

After taking the permission of appropriate authority , public meetings can be organised by political parties or the candidates on open grounds with participation of a maximum of 300 people. Strict COVID-19 protocols should be obeyed during the  meetings or events like mask-wearing and social distancing.

The relaxations came into effect from today.
