KANGANA RECALLS HOW PRIYANKA USED TO TREAT HER ON THE SETS OF FASHION
(The Quiver) : Today, 12 glorious years of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion film is completed. Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut were featured in the film as main leads. The film showed the dark side of the shining glamour world , how harsh is the reality of glamour industry.
Kangana was just 19 when she was featured in the film fashion. By that time was a newcomer in bollywood and her outstanding acting in this film was appreciated by everyone. The film went on to become a huge blockbuster and Kangana even won a National Award for her portrayal of ‘Shonali Gujral’ in Fashion, a small town girl who loses herself in the chase for stardom. After this Kangana never looked back.
On the 12th anniversary of Fashion, Kangana spoke exclusively and shared her experience of working with Priyanka when she was all of 19. The actress said, “Priyanka is fabulous. She is somebody who back then also when I was 19, and she was such a big star. I was so starry-eyed because when I was in school, that time I had been watching her films and here I was in my initial years. She was so cool. She didn’t treat me like a kid or a junior. I felt like she was a friend, who shared food with me and asked me questions like ‘How do I look?’, ‘Is this ok?, ‘How is this dress looking?’ So I didn’t feel like she is my senior and she is such a big star. It was a nice feeling that she has that ability, it’s wonderful.”
Speaking about how the film has changed her career, she said, “It’s a beautiful thing that the film has lived for so long and still after doing films like ‘Queen’, ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, still people meet me and they talk about ‘Fashion’. The walk that I have done and the dialogues I have said, the mocking tone, so many children and youngsters come up to me and say good things about it. So it’s nice that the film has lived for so long”.
The actress said that she had never expected a national award for her film “Fashion”. Praising Madhur Bhandarkar she said , “Madhur sir has been true to the darker sides of anything which has a very beautiful cover. He has always brought it efficiently to his audience. The darker side, to be honest, now people are making a lot of hoopla about it. At that time, people actually openly criticised so many things about it. ‘Fashion’ has whether it’s drugs or it is the exploitation of talent, it was so openly shown and it is not a secret to anyone. Now, of course, a lot of people say that ‘we are holier than thou’ but this is the very latest trend, that time it was not such a big deal,” she shared.
Its very normal to watch the cat fights between bollywood actresses. Kangana is popular for her controversial headlines, so regarded as the controversial queen of Bollywood but her bond with Priyanka shows an exception . Friendly relationship between two actress started from film fashion and seems is sweeter till now perhaps because both are outsiders and struggled for establishing themselves in Bollywood without anybody’s support , so they better understand each other pain during the struggle time.
