GHOONGHAT, DUPATTA ALLOWED,WHY NOT HIJAB ?

(The Quiver) : Mixed responses are marked regarding the Hijab Controversy in the country . The leading controversial case fourth day hearing held in presence of the Chief Justice who heard the arguments from Muslim girls who have challenged restrictions on wearing the religious headscarves in classrooms. Further hearing in Karnataka High court will be continued today at 2.30 pm.

Yesterday ,The advocate for petitioners represented an argument during the hearing on the hijab row that if different religious symbols such as ghoonghats, dupatta , bangles and turbans are common in Indian society then , the government is targeting only Muslim women for their headscarves which is an example of “hostile discrimination”.

He also argued that the discrimination is even starker because there is no prescribed uniform for the students in pre-university colleges in the state and as a consequence there is no rule that imposes a ban on the hijab.

As per the report of PTI news agency ,The social democratic party of India (SDPI) on Wednesday charged the BJP with ‘sponsoring’ and ‘promoting’ the hijab-saffron shawl issue in educational institutions in Karnataka. Addressing reporters here, SDPI state general secretary B R Bhaskar Prasad alleged that the entire issue is a ‘criminal act’ sponsored by the BJP government in the state.
