ROHIT SHARMA EYES THIRD CONSECUTIVE SERIES WHITEWASH

(The Quiver): Rohit Sharma-led India will look to complete another series whitewash when they take on the West Indies in the third and final T20I at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday. With the series already sealed, the Indian team will have the chance to test their bench strength in the final game of the series.

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been given a break and won’t be a part of the second T20I. This gives room for Rohit to bring in two new batters. Although Ishan Kishan struggled in the first two matches, his chances of getting dropped are low as India would need to play a wicket-keeper in Pant’s absence.

Shreyas Iyer, the newly formed captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) might get a chance to play at number four, where Virat Kohli usually bats. All-rounder Deepak Hooda has also been warming the bench and might get a chance.

In the bowling department, Rohit Sharma might want to give chance to one or two of his bowlers waiting in the ranks. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has bowled well this series, especially in the penultimate over in the 2nd T20I. Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar have leaked runs in the first two T20Is and stand a chance of being dropped. Shardul Thakur, Avesh Khan, and Mohammed Siraj are some of the contenders to get the spot.
