INDIAN STUDENTS LOVE FOR ABROAD STUDIES LANDED THEM INTO TROUBLE,WHY ARE INDIAN STUDENTS OPTING FOR ABROAD STUDIES?

(The Quiver) : Immense love for abroad studies are landing Indian students in difficult situations .Every year thousands of Indians migrate to abroad. Most of the people move to abroad finding better pay scale opportunities, from here the brain drain starts and now even the Indian students are preferring to foreign studies. This is not surprising but the latest trend going in India . Every year, thousands of Indian students go abroad for higher studies , especially when it comes to the study of medicines, in countries like – USA , China, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, even Bangladesh, etc.

As the ongoing Pandemic era and Russia-Ukraine war have again brought to attention the fundamental weaknesses and problems associated with the education system of India . Is it the ignorance of Indian Government which forced many Indian students to opt for abroad studies? or are the Indian faculties not educated enough to impart knowledge to students? why is the war hit nation has been popular among Indian students willing to study medicine , where the core of problem lies lets find it out.

 War hit Ukraine ranks fourth in Europe for having the largest number of graduate and post-graduate medical students, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Education and Science. The Ministry’s data also reveals that there were around 18,095 Indian students in Ukraine before evacuation efforts began, and that in 2020, 24% of its overseas students were from India, according to IANS. And presently, while many students are stuck in war zone Ukraine, thousands who’ve returned from both Ukraine and China are dealing with an uncertain future.

Similarly , the arrival of corona pandemic made thousands of Indian national students to return to the homeland but this return became expensive for both the students as their career got hampered at middle as well as India whose covid -19 postivity rate exceeded with the arrival of these students.

Now what the Indian Government has to say over the issue…

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday claimed that 90% of Indians who complete their medical degrees from foreign universities are unable to clear the qualifying exam to practice medicine in India. The statement came in wake of the high number of Indian medical students stranded in Ukraine as Russia wages a war on the country.

What  according to the students are reasons behind studying in abroad?

According to students , opting to study medicine in foreign universities, including those in Ukraine are easier than studying in Indian medical schools because of  huge difference in the tuition fee. Studying medicine in a private college in India can cost close to Rs1 crore and admissions in government medical colleges are next to impossible as there are very few no .of seats available . In Ukraine, a similar degree costs half the amount along with accommodation facilities and extra costs.

India also has a considerably small number of seats available for students to pursue medicine and the competition is intensive compared to other countries.

This  magnitude of the gap in demand and availability for MBBS seats in the country and lack of management of the Indian Government on the education system , is taken as advantage by the money haunting mafias who bag a huge amount of money from hopeful parents. Some of the popular institutes who provide medical coaching , charge high amount of money which is beyond the affordable limit of middle-class parents.

The plight of thousands of Indian students who were stuck in Ukraine amid the Russian invasion, are now being brought back by commendable efforts of the Indian government mission “operation Ganga”

When will our Indian Government  pay attention towards this issue? will it work on this issue or make any easy escape for blaming the students for their own fate ? or every time due to global crisis  students career will be left in darkness and uncertainties? all these question answers probably our readers can get with the advancement of time.
