AFGHAN OPENER RAHMAMULLAH GURBAZ LIKELY REPLACEMENT FOR JASON ROY IN GUJARAT TITANS

(The Quiver): Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz is reportedly being considered by Gujarat Titans as the possible replacement for England opener, Jason Roy, who opted out of the IPL 2022 season due to bio-bubble fatigue.

The season will last over two months and Roy did not want to be part of the long season. He has also announced his indefinite break from cricket to tend to his mental health.

In his stead, the Titans, who bought him for his base price of INR 2 crores, are trying to find a suitable replacement at the top. They are looking at Gurbaz, who is a hard-hitting Afghan opener with a 150+ strike rate in the T20s.

The 20-year-old youngster has already gained loads of experience across various leagues. He has played for Multan Sultans and Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League , Khulna Tigers in Bangladesh Premier League, and Kandy Tuskers in Lanka Premier League. In just 69 T20 games, Gurbaz has scored 113 sixes, something that further adds to his credibility. He can partner Shubman Gill at the top and their youthful exuberance could pay dividends for the Titans side.
