SRI LANKA 28/1 AT STUMPS ON DAY-2 IN CHASE OF 447

(The Quiver): Jasprit Bumrah’s early strike after setting a 447 run target for Sri Lanka put Team India on top at Stumps on Day 2 of the India vs Srilanka 2nd Day & Night Test. For India, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah stole the show. At the end of day 2’s play, Sri Lanka were 28/1 with Mendis (16) and Karunaratne (10) remaining unbeaten at crease.

Chasing a mammoth 447-run target, Sri Lanka lost their first wicket without scoring a run as Bumrah, after taking a fifer in 1st innings, struck in the very first over of Sri Lanka’s 2nd innings.

Iyer, who scored 92 in the first innings, scored 67 in the second innings. Wrecker-in-chief Pant scored his 9th Test half-century off just 28 balls, the fastest by an Indian in Test cricket history. He broke 1983 World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev’s 40-year-old record of scoring the fastest fifty for India in Test cricket.

On Day 2, Jasprit Bumrah picked a sensational 5-wicket haul to bowl out Sri Lanka for just 109 runs. After ending Day 1 on 86/6, Sri Lanka managed to add just 23 runs in 1st session, losing 4 wickets as Bumrah and R Ashwin bagged two wickets apiece.
