NATARAJAN CHANDRASEKARAN , NEW CHAIRMAN OF AIR INDIA

(The Quiver): Natarajan Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons, has been officially appointed as the chairman of Air India.
The appointment was cleared at a board meeting held today by Air India as former Turkish Airlines head Mehmet Ilker Ayci declined from the post of Air India CEO-MD. No reason was given for Ayci’s decision.

The Tata Group bought the debt ridden state-owned Air India from the Central government in October last year. Tatas won the bid for Air India through a competitive bidding for Rs 18,000 crore, including the cash component of Rs 2,700 crore. It took full control of the airline on January 27.
