MAMATA BANERJEE WILL VISIT BIRBHUM VIOLENCE-HIT PLACE TODAY ;STATUS REPORT TO BE PRODUCED BY 2PM

(The Quiver): Today ,West Bengal Chief minister Mamata banerjee will visit Bogtui village in Rampurhat area of violence-hit Birbhum district , where eight people were burnt alive by a mob because of political fight.
Eight people, including three women and two children, were locked in their homes and burnt alive by a mob on Tuesday .  As revealed by the locals this brutal action was taken after a local Trinamool Congress leader was murdered.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday described the killings as “heinous” and said those responsible for them should not be forgiven.

The Chief Minister has been accused by the opposition BJP of presiding over a complete collapse of law and order in the state.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, Mamata on Wednesday said that strict action would be taken against the perpetrators. She attacked the rival parties saying “it was an attempt by the BJP , Left and the Congress to malign our government”.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava, taking up a suo motu petition and a set of PILs seeking an independent probe into the incident, had yesterday ordered the immediate installation of CCTV cameras covering all angles of the crime scene in the presence of district judge, Purba Bardhaman, and recordings be done until further orders.

The Calcutta High court has asked the state government to produce the case diary/report in the case before it by 2 pm on Thursday, when the matter will be taken up for hearing again. It had directed the state to ensure that evidence at the place of occurrence remains intact.
