TALIBAN SHUTS DOWN SCHOOLS FOR GIRLS, SAYS QURAN IS SOURCE OF ALL THE SCIENCES IN THE WORLD
(The Quiver) : The Taliban ordered to shut down secondary schools for girls in Afghanistan on Wednesday . The Taliban here act over the reversal policy depriving girls from receiving education.
The announcement was done after thousands of girls resumed lessons for the first time since August, when the Taliban seized control of the country and imposed harsh restrictions on women.
The education ministry offered no coherent explanation regarding shutting down school for girls.
The Taliban had insisted they wanted to ensure schools for girls aged 12 to 19 were segregated and would operate according to Islamic principles. The Afghani girls were seen to be crying and returning to home with heavy hearts after their classes were stopped.
“I see my students crying and reluctant to leave classes,” said Palwasha, a teacher at Omara Khan girls’ school in the capital.”It is very painful to see them crying,”she further added.
US special envoy to Afghanistan Rina Amiri tweeted the move “weakens confidence in the Taliban commitments” and “further dashes the hopes of families for a better future for their daughters”.
The Taliban have imposed a slew of restrictions on women, effectively banning them from many government jobs, policing what they wear and preventing them from travelling outside of their cities alone.
