LT GEN BS RAJU NAMED NEW VICE CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF

(The Quiver): Lieutenant General BS Raju has been appointed the new Vice Chief of Army Staff. On May 1, 2022, Lt Gen BS Raju will take over as Vice Chief of Army Staff.

Taking to Twitter, Additional Directorate General of Public Information, IHQ of MoD (Army) said, “General MM Naravane #COAS & All Ranks of #IndianArmy congratulate Lieutenant General BS Raju on being appointed as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff #VCOAS of #IndianArmy. Lt Gen BS Raju will assume the appointment of #VCOAS on 01 May 2022.

“Lt Gen BS Raju, who has extensive experience in counter-terrorism operations, will take over for Lt Gen Manoj Pande, who was named the 29th Chief of Army Staff on April 18.Lt Gen Manoj Pande’s tenure will begin on May 1 as well.

Pande will be the Army’s first Chief of Staff to come from the Corps of Engineers.Lt Gen BS Raju was the commander of the Army’s ‘Victor Force,’ which is in charge of counter-insurgency operations in the dangerous south Kashmir area.Gen. MM Naravane, the current Chief of the Army Staff, is set to conclude his 28-month tenure at the end of this month.
