MS DHONI ACCOMPLISHES 6000 RUNS AS A SKIPPER IN T20s

(The Quiver): Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni became the second skipper after Virat Kohli to notch 6000 runs as a captain in T20s. Prior to CSK’s match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday, May 8 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai, the 40-year-old batter needed four runs to join Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Kohli in the unique list.

After CSK being put into bat first, Dhoni came to the crease in the 18th over after Mitchell Marsh got rid of Shivam Dube, who scored a quick-fire 19-ball 32 with the help of two fours and as many sixes. Dhoni started his knock by playing a dot ball off Marsh, after which he smacked the bowler for a colossal six over the long-on fence with the utmost ease.

The shot also helped him join the 33-year-old Kohli in the elite club. The Jharkhand-born Dhoni played a handy cameo of 21 runs off eight balls with the help of one four and two sixes, helping the Super Kings post a daunting target of 209 for the Capitals to track down.

Dhoni is also 91 short of accomplishing 5000 runs in the IPL. Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Suresh Raina and AB de Villiers are the ones who have accomplished the milestone in the cash-rich T20 tournament.
