COOKING GAS CYLINDERS RATE HIKE : IS RETURNING TO OLD CHULLAS ,THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE LEFT ?
Central Government and State Government are supplying 1 Rupee rice to BPL people but people are unable to boil the granted rice by using expensive cooking gas cylinders. Such situation is again forcing people to return to traditional Chullas and stoves.
Bhubaneswar (The Quiver) : After petrol and diesel rates hike , now price hike of domestic cooking gas cylinders are the new reason of headache for the citizens belonging to middle and poorer sections of the country. The price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG(Liquefied petroleum gas) has crossed Rs 1000 in most places in India from Thursday.
The latest cost of cooking gas LPG cylinder now is Rs 1003 in the national capital, Delhi. In Kolkata , cooking gas is even more expensive , costs Rs 1029 . Coming to Odisha the LGP cylinder cost ranges from Rs 942 to Rs 1066.50 .

Once upon a time the state government was encouraging BPL(Below Poverty Line People) and middle sections to replace traditional Chullas and gas stoves by Cooking gas cylinders in their kitchens as it was convenient and had no health hazards. Even the government had supplied free cooking gas cylinders to people but the present times situation is completely ironical to past. Unable to bear with the price hike of domestic cylinders, people are found throwing cylinders in ponds and rivers. In many places of the country people are protesting against the price hike of domestic cooking gas cylinders.
After from the price hike issues of cooking gas cylinders, black marketing of domestic gas cylinders are frequent in the country and in worst cases , it can be found that the cooking gas cylinders allotted in names of poor people are used in hotels . Such situations are forcing the poor people to again return to the old traditional Chullas and stoves. This present pocket burning situation is enough to encourage people for contributing to air pollution level in the upcoming times.
