KSHAMA’s SELF – MARRIAGE IS TO TREND OR TO BE SAFE ?

(The Quiver) : You must have came across unique marriages , now Imagine a bride’s wedding without a groom. Hard to believe isn’t it? 24 year old Indian Woman Kshama Bindu hailing from Gujarat, perhaps will be the first lady in the country to do Sologamy or Self marriage.  According to Kshama, self marriage is an act of self-acceptance, commitment to be there for yourself and unconditional love for oneself”.

Kshama explaining the reason behind her decision told,” I never wanted to get married. But I did want to become a bride. So I decided to marry myself .”

Kshama’s marriage will have all the elements of a common wedding except groom. She will perform all the rituals which are done in a common wedding like “Saat Phere”, wearing vermillion , she will taking 5 vows for herself . She has even planned for a two week Goa trip honeymoon once got married. This unique , unusual wedding of Kshama will be taking place on June 11.

Many people appreciated Kshama’s decision while others brutally criticized this marriage of Kshama . People even questioned how social balance can be maintained with this marriage in society? But according to some people ,Kshama has taken a brave action of sologamy marriage as her hidden reason behind sologamy marriage would be her parents. This might be doing self-committing marriage to remain with her parents life-long and take care of them.

Does this act of Kshama majorly indicates women situation in country? We constantly come across news on crimes against women like rapes, murders for Dowry, destroying of female feticide, in our day today life. Is this the reason behind changing mind-setup of women to boycott marriage? Do women don’t find themselves secure in the male dominated society? so no longer want to rely upon a male partner in life long or Is  Kshama’s self marriage temporary to get highlight and to become a new trend-setter of Sologamy marriage in the country? later might change her resolution.
