SHOULD INDIA CARRY OUT UK’S BIGGEST FOUR-DAY WORK WEEK TRIAL?

(The Quiver Bureau) : The world’s biggest trial of a four-day work week has began in the UK, with participation of  more than 70 companies and 3,300 employees. Thousands of workers across different sectors of the UK economy have signed up for the global study that started on Monday – working for four days a week, while still receiving full pay.

Around 70 companies across banking, hospitality, care, and animation studios are signed up to take part in world’s biggest pilot programme.

UK’s 4-Days work , Pilot Programme will be conducted on the employees for a period of six months . The pilot programme aims at measuring productivity and well being of staff .

The 4 Day Week Campaign said in a statement, “More than 3,300 workers, based throughout the UK and representing more than 30 sectors, are receiving 100 per cent of the pay for 80 per cent of the time, in exchange for a commitment to maintain at least 100 per cent productivity.”

In Worldwide, over 150 companies and 7,000 employees across countries like the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand have signed up to participate in the six-month coordinated trials of the four-day working week .

The 4 days work week experiment is conducted by academics from Oxford and Cambridge universities, as well as experts from  Boston College in the US in partnership with the think tank Autonomy and not-for-profit coalition 4 Day Week Global.
