PROPHET ROW : BURNING PROTESTS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF COUNTRY TO ARREST NUPUR SHARMA
New Delhi (The Quiver) : Prophet Row in India has not only led to a global outrage but also massive protests are burning in different parts of the country. Severe protests have broken out in Delhi , Kolkata, Prayagraj and other places in the country over the row .
On Friday ,Protest erupted outside Jama Masjid in Delhi , after the Friday prayers with demands for the arrest of Nupur Sharma, who made the comments and was later suspended from the BJP.
DCP Central District, Shweta Chauhan said, “Almost 1,500 people had gathered in Jama Masjid for Friday prayers. After the prayers, nearly 300 people came out and started to protest over inflammatory remarks by Nupur Sharma & Naveen Jindal.”
In Kolkata, over 300 people turned up during namaaz with posters etc demanding the arrest of Nupur Sharma.
In Moradabad, the crowd was found protesting against the same cause , could be seen running away as the police resorted to lathicharge to control the situation.
In Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi, protesters pelted stones at the police in which some cops were injured.The police had to resort to lathicharge in order to disperse the crowd.
In UP’s Saharanpur, hundreds gathered to protest without permission. The police registered a case against them after dispersing the crowd. Strict action will be taken against them, the police said.
In Hyderabad, people came out in large numbers, staging a protest at the Mecca masjid near the iconic Charminar and several other places across the city. Protesters raised slogans against Nupur Sharma, Raja Singh and others.
