SC ASKED NUPUR SHARMA TO APOLOGISE THE WHOLE COUNTRY
New Delhi (The Quiver) : On Friday ,The Supreme Court blamed heavily on the former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma violence going in the country. The apex court stated : “She is single-handedly responsible for what is happening in the country”. Nupur Sharma’s comments on Prophet Mohammed related to the dispute over Gyanvapi mosque in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi had triggered a huge violent protest in many parts of the country.
Several countries – including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait – sent official notes to India over the matter. India, however, had underscored that “all religions are equally respected in the country”.
Sharma’s “loose tongue has set the entire country on fire”, the top court said .Nupur Sharma approached the top court for the transfer of all cases against her filed in different parts of the country to Delhi, the Supreme Court said she should apologise to the whole country.
“Her outburst is responsible for the unfortunate incident at Udaipur,” the court further underlined, referring to the beheading of a tailor in the Rajasthan district earlier this week, which had sparked huge tensions.
In her petition, Sharma had informed that she had been facing life threats. Earlier, Naveen Jindal too had said he and his family were facing threats.
The official Twitter handle of the Congress termed the Supreme Court’s remarks as a slap of the face of the BJP government and asked whether the BJP president, the Union home minister and Prime Minister himself owe an “apology to the nation for stoking communal hatred constantly”.
