DELHI COURT REJECTS BAIL PLEA OF MOHAMMED ZUBAIR, SENDS HIM TO 14 DAY JUDICIAL CUSTODY

(The Quiver): Mohammed Zubair, the co-founder of Alt News, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody after a court here rejected his bail application.

Earlier, in the day, Delhi Police had added sections of criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence and FCRA violation to the case and sought 14-days of judicial custody of Mohammed Zubair.The decision was taken after the court heard both sides of the argument.

On June 27, Mohammed Zubair was arrested for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through one of his tweets and was sent to one-day police custody by the trial court on the same day.

After being produced on the expiry of his one-day custodial interrogation, his custody was extended by another four days by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM).
