BAHUDA JATRA: LORD OF UNIVERSE JAGANNATH’S HOME RETURNING

Puri (The Quiver): On Saturday, Lord Jagannath and his sibling deities- Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are all set to return to return to their home , Puri Jagannath temple after staying for a week at the Gundicha Temple during 9-day Ratha Jatra.

The are returning in their respective grand chariots, which will be pulled by devotees from Gundicha temple to Srimandir. This return journey of the deities is popularly called the “Bahuda Yatra” .
As per reports, all the associated rituals of the Holy Trinity began at around 4 am today. As per schedule, after the ‘Pahandi’ ritual, Chera Panhara would begin at 2 pm and pulling of chariots is expected to start by 4 pm. However, the Pahandi rituals began at around 8 am today.
“Lord of Universe will make His way back to His Ratna Bedi at Srimandir from Janma Bedi after 7-day stay at Gundicha Temple during 11-day-long Ratha Jatra. After a gap of two years, the devotees from across the state, country as well as overseas thronged Saradha Bali in pilgrim city in large number to have Divine darshan of deities atop the chariots,” a senior servitor said.
High security arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the Bahuda Yatra today, viewing upon the huge rush of devotees.
