48th National Junior Aquatics Championship Beginning Today

(The Quiver) : The 48th National Junior Aquatics Championship, jointly organized by the Sports and Youth Services Department and the State Swimming Association, begining today. A total of 853 contestants from 30 states and union territories are taking part in the competition.

Players and officials from different states arrived to the capital to participate in the competition. They have been accommodated in various hotels, guest rooms and hostels at KIIT University.

There are a total of 528 contestants, including 254 female contestants in swimming, while there are a total of 325 contestants, including 105 female contestants in Water Polo.

A total of 20 people from Odisha, including 12 boys and 8 girls, are participating in the competition.

All arrangements have been made by the department for the five-day competition to be held at the Biju Patnaik Swimming Pool Complex.

Steps have been taken to ensure that players and officials are accommodated, well-fed and well-organized. Ghumura dance will be performed by artists from Kalahandi on the occasion of the championship to encourage the contestants.

The opening ceremony of the competition will be held in the afternoon in the presence of the Minister of Sports and Youth Services as the competition starts from today.
