SINDHU’S HISTORICAL WIN IN SINGAPORE OPEN 2022

(The Quiver):Ace shuttler PV Sindhu became the second Indian to win the Singapore Open after Saina Nehwal on Sunday, July 17. Wang Z.Y. of China was defeated by Sindhu 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 to win her first Super 500 championship in 2022.

Against the world number 11, she used her height to great use and stayed a top the shuttle to use a variety of shots. To keep her Chinese opponent on her toes, Sindhu used a variety of quick shots and drops in the net. The unbothered Indian stormed to a 21-9 win in the first game.In the second game, Sindhu performed poorly, second-guessing herself as a result of the drift, and missing simple opportunities to beat Wang. As a result, the Chinese opponent won convincingly and forced a decisive game to be played.

Starting from her favoured court in the final game of the game, Sindhu tired hard to get away, but Wang Z.Y. gave her a tough fight.The match moved along the unexpected lines, with Wang bringing the former world champion closer by cutting the deficit while playing on the better side of the court. But Sindhu hold her nerve as she managed to stretch the lead to five points. Later she closed the game 21-15 to win her maiden Super 500 title on Sunday.
