Musetti stunning comeback takes him to his Maiden triumph

(The Quiver) : On Sunday, Italian’s Lorenzo Musetti’s will be proud of his victory for a long time as he defeated World No 6. Carlos Alcaraz 6-4, 6-7(6-8), 6-4, to win his first ATP 500 event in Hamburg.

Before making a crucial break in the first set of the match at 3-3, the Italian swiftly moved ahead with 4-3 as Alcaraz missed out on the opportunity to take a lead. Ā Musetti closed the opening set and gave a calm response as he looked determined for a win.

With his maiden title win, the Italian made huge strides with grabbing world no. 31 spot.

“Because it was a roller coaster till the very end, I am at a loss for words. So many match points were mine. I had numerous opportunities, but Carlos was so good on the match points “In his on-court interview, Musetti stated.

Alcaraz struggled to fly at his best throughout the final match, making errors that were out of character, although some of that was due to the fact that his opponent kept him on his toes and prevented him from getting into a rhythm.

In a nail-biting match, the Italian defeated Alcaraz, who on Monday became the youngest player to enter the top five since Rafael Nadal in 2005.

This is the first head to head clash between the two players.
