Clinical India created history in West-Indies in 39 years

(The Quiver): India wrote history in the first clean sweep of One-Day Internationals in the West Indies in 39 years since the teams began competing against each other in the Caribbean in 1983.

Having previously clean sweep the Caribbean recently, India thrash West-indies in the third ODI by 119 runs. After opting to bat in a rain curtailed game, Shubman Gill showed his caliber with a masterful 98* as India posted 225-3 in 36 overs. Shikhar Dhawan (58) and Shreyas Iyer (44) also made contributions with the bat for India.

Later, the match was reduced as West Indies needed to get 257 from 35 overs (DLS) method.

In reply, Yuzvendra Chahal’s four wicket haul ensured India a win as the hosts were bundled out for 137.

Shikhar Dhawan accomplished a historically rare success by leading India to its first-ever ODI clean sweep in the Caribbean.

In 2002, the Ganguly-led visiting team overcame the hosts 2-1 over the course of the three-match series to claim their first ever ODI series victory in the West Indies.

Dhawan became the sixth captain of India to win an ODI series in the West Indies, joining Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Virat Kohli.
