Clinical India Thrash West-Indies By 68 Runs In First T20I

(The Quiver): On Friday, India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series at the Brain Lara Stadium in Trinidad after outplaying a lackluster West-Indies team by 68 runs in the first T20 international.

After been invited to bat first by the hosts, Rohit Sharma, the team’s captain, returned to form, while Dinesh Karthik added the finishing touches as India defeated the West Indies with a respectable 190 for 6.

With a scorching unbeaten cameo of 41 of 19 balls, Karthik ensured that India completed with a substantial score despite the West-Indies bowlers giving up 52 runs in final four overs. On a surface with gradual bounce, the Indian captain scored his 27th half century in this format.

Rohit Sharma passed Martin Guptill (3399 runs) to become the player with the most runs in T20Is (3443 runs) during the 64-run innings. Seven fours and two sixes were part of his innings.

In reply, India restricted the hosts to 122-8 in 20 overs to pick up a huge win on Friday.

For India, R. Ashwin (2-22), Arshdeep Singh (2-24), and Ravi Bishnoi (2-26) had the best results.
