Parliament In Iraq Gets Breached By Protesters

(The Quiver): Protesting against the rival bloc nomination of Moqtada Sadr, thousands of demonstrators made their entry inside the Iraq parliament. This the second instance this incident has occurred in the Parliament after the elections.

Thousands of protestors who were Muqtada al-Sadr supporters used ropes to take down cement barricades that were blocking the Green Zone in Iraq, which is home to government buildings and foreign embassies.

The protesters were against the recent choice of Mohammed al-Sudani as the official nominee of the Coordination Framework coalition, a grouping of Shiite parties sponsored by Iran and their allies.

A substantial number of protesters wearing black were seen in the days preceding Ashura, which commemorates the passing of Imam Hussein, the Prophet Mohamed’s grandson and one of the most important figures in Shiite Islam.

According to Sources, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, the prime minister of Iraq, ordered security troops to watch over the protests.

Raad Thabet stated that his gang has come to rid the political elite of corruption, prevent them from running the parliament, and stop the framework from building a government.
