Record Breaker Jeremy Gives India Its Second Gold
(The Quiver): In the men’s 67kg category, A young lad from Mizoram has made the nation proud by winning a gold medal at Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. In the snatch event, Jeremy Lalrinnunga created a record by lifting 140 kg.
Having previously winning gold in 62 kg event in the 2018 Youth Olympics Games, The 19-year old from Aizawl has also the illusive gold medal in the 67kg in the Commonwealth Games which held last year.
Vaipara Loane from Samoa took the silver medal with a combined weight of 293kg whereas, Edidiong Joseph Umoafia of Nigeria bagged the bronze medal with 290kg at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
With podium performances on Saturday from Mirabai Chanu (gold), Sanket Sargar (silver), Bidyarani Devi (silver), and Gururaj Poojary (bronze), India earned its fifth medal from the weightlifting competition.
