Rs 50 crore To Be Given For Reallocation of Cheetahs: Know More

(The Quiver): Tuesday saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indian Oil Corporation and the National Tiger Conservation Authority that will see cheetahs relocated from Africa to India. The MoU states that the IOC will invest INR 50.22 crore for the project’s establishment over a four-year period.

As a part of corporate responsibility, the funds which is provided by Indian Oil will be used for modification of cheetah, ecological development, training of staff and veterinary healthcare.

The MoU was signed between SM Vidya Indian Oil Corporation Chairman and Dr S P Yadav, the NTCA member secretary and the additional director general of Project Tiger.

The restoration of the cheetah will serve as an example of the genuine inhabitants of the cheetah, which will help prevent the loss of biodiversity and have unique relevance for the national conservation ethic and ethos.

The species of Asiatic Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus venaticus )and the species of African cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus jubatus) are the identical.

Last year, Indian Oil Corporation went on to adopt Indian single-horned rhino as its mascot.
