35-year old Saurav Bagged Historic Bronze In Squash Singles

(The Quiver): By winning the bronze medal in squash singles event in Commonwealth Games 2022, Saurav Ghosal’s name will be in the history of Indian Squash. The 35-year player from Kolkata went on to beat James Willstrop of England 11-6,11-1,11-4.

After taking a healthy lead in the first game, he look more assured and confident of achieving something massive for the nation. At the beginning, he allowed his counterpart Willstrop to make the moves while he was taking an defensive approach.

“I want to dedicate this medal to my grandfather who passed in 2020, he was equally important to me and my grandmother.” he said.

However, in the second game, the World No 15th played more aggressively on the front foot to take 5-0 lead. He quickly finished the game without giving his competitor any chance to get back in the game.

On the third and final bout, Saurav put the final nail in the coffin to win the bronze medal 11-4 in the Commonwealth Games 2022.
