Sanctions Imposed Against US Speaker Over Visit

(The Quiver): On Friday, China’s foreign ministry announced sanctions on US Speaker Nancy Pelosi for interfering in China’s domestic affairs and undermining Chinese sovereignty.

This week, She made her visit to support and encourage the democracy of Taiwan, to have an open and free Indo-pacific region and promotion of shared interests between Taiwan and United states of America.

In the recent years, China had a nag of imposing sanctions on US officials over acting beside key interests and speaking on Human rights issues on Hong Kong and the northwest region of Xinjiang.

As a result of earlier waves of sanctions,Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former President Donald Trump’s trade adviser Peter Navarro and now are prohibited from entering China.

US President Joe Biden said the decision was all up to her to visit Taiwan as he remains dedicated to One China one Policy since 1970, in which it recongised China a part of Taiwan.

The Chinese government reacted to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan with bombastic threats and military exercises, which it perceives as a deterioration of relations between Washington and the current independence-supporting government in Taiwan.
