Popular Multimedia Software gets Banned in India

(The Quiver): Developed by VideoLAN project, one of the most widely used media player programmes called as VLC media player is no longer working in India.

According to sources, China-backed hacker organisation Cicada used the streaming server as a platform for its attacks, as a result the software has been restricted in the nation.

As the VLC media player and downlink link are now prohibited in India, accessing the platform for any type of work is no longer allowed.

A screenshot of the VLC website showing “the website has been prohibited as per order Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under IT Act, 2000” was tweeted by a user named Gagandeep Sapra.

In 2020, since many platforms were sending data to China, as a result the Indian government took the decision to ban hundreds of Chinese apps which includes PUBG mobile, Tik Tok, Cam scanner and more.

The Indian version BGMI which is the dubbed version of PUBG is also banned and is removed from Google Play store.
