High Intensified Depression puts Odisha State on High Alert

(The Quiver): After witnessing excessive rainfall under the influence of well-marked low-pressure in several parts of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department has said the system is likely to form into a depression.

After having its impact over the coastal region of Bay of Bengal on Saturday, the IMD regional centre have issued a warning to the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

 Flood like situations have occurred in many low-lying areas of Odisha.

 According to the advisory, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are likely to have mild to moderate rain/thunderstorms with one or two spells of strong (2-3 cm/hour) rainfall today.

In the previous 24 hours, 73 locations in Odisha had heavy rainfall, while 21 locations experienced extremely heavy rainfall (ranging from 115.6 to 204.4 mm) (64.5mm to 115.5 mm).

 The Sundargarh district’s Hemgiri recorded the most rainfall of 200.4 mm.
