(The Quiver): On Monday, A COVID-19 vaccination that targets both the original and Omicron variants of the virus has received approval in Britain, making it the first country to do so. It gets its approval from the Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

It stated that data from a clinical trial had demonstrated it prompted a “strong immune response” against the original virus and Omicron. CEO of MHRA June Raine said.

According to the sources, two Omicron subvariants, BA.4 and BA.5, which have contributed to a spike in new instances of the disease in Europe and the US, were also shown to produce a “excellent response” from the vaccination. MHRA said.

The first-generation COVID-19 vaccines are still essential for preventing the disease and saving lives in the UK. He added.

The improved vaccination should be offered as a booster shot in the autumn and provide stronger defence against variants.
