All India Football Federation gets suspended by FIFA

(The Quiver): On Tuesday, The All India Football Federation has been suspended immediately by the FIFA bureau council due to pressure from outside parties. This is regarded as a major violation of the statutes of FIFA.

“The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022, which is slated to take place in India from October 11–30, 2022, cannot now be hosted in India as scheduled due to the suspension.”

According to sources, “Once the powers of AIFF executive committee has been repealed, then only any decision of lifting the ban will be considered by the apex body of football.”

With the ousted of Praful Patel as the AIFF president due to his negligence for not holding the elections in December 2020, the supreme court has appointed a three-member Committee of Administration  which is headed by AR Dave.

FIFA is hopeful that a favorable resolution to the matter is still possible and is in regular, productive discussion with the Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
