Can stroke patients be saved by an app without a neurosurgeon? Know How

(The Quiver): How can an app could saved lives of stroke patients with there is no neurologists around? With 22 districts across several states trying to access this technological based app which is funded by Indian Council of Medical research.

With a mobile based app called “SMART app” the physicians will get the option to connect with the neurologist working in the Nodal centers.

India sees 1.5 million stroke related cases every year, if the tele-stroke facility is successful, then it can help the local physicians to help the people to save lives of people those whose are acute with stroke diseases.

The Tele stoke model is the process which enable the physicians in the district of hospital will get time to converse to consult with the stroke neurologists. They will train the physicians the procedure of how to handle acute stroke cases.

Low cost Tele stroke model (app-based model) leads to better results compared to stoke physicians models. Doctors said.

The primary role of the app is the transmit of patient data, including CT scans, which is essential for physicians to use in order to treat patients in a timely manner.

Stoke patients can be saved from death and permanent disability with timely medical intervention. Stoke is a disease in which the arteries gets affected leading to within the brain as the blood vessels which carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain gets blocked either by clots or ruptures. After that, the brain fails to carry the blood and oxygen leading to strokes. Former Head of Neurology of AIIMS Dr. Kameshwar Prasad said.
