Flood in Mahanadi River affects more than 2 lakh people

(The Quiver): After hitting the coastal regions of Odisha, flood in Mahanadi river has affected across 10 districts with the number of people estimated to be more than two lakh.

Nine urban local bodies in 10 districts, 1366 villages in 369 gram panchayats, and almost 2 lakh individuals have also been impacted. Similar to this, 1.2 lakh people in 237 communities have been trapped by Flood.

While the kharif crop on thousands of acres of land has been destroyed, hundreds of buildings have been damaged.

40 gates were used to release 6.79 cusecs of water at a rate of 5.97 lakh cusecs per second into the reservoir.

Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Sambalpur and Angul  are the districts which are affected by flood.

In the north of the state, where a low-pressure area is expected to emerge by August 19, Odisha is anticipating significant rain in all areas of the state.
