8 YouTube Channels Banned by Centre for Spreading Misinformation

(The Quiver): After being monetised by using fake and anti national content in the channels, the Government of India has banned a total of 8 including one Pakistan based out channel for spreading inaccurate information. The channels had overall viewership of 114 crore.

According to sources, after “From the standpoint of national security and India’s good relations with foreign powers, the content was found to be wholly untrue and sensitive, the channels were disseminating false information about India’s foreign policy, public order, and national security. Said by the government.

The channels used fake thumbnails, images of news anchors and Logos of TV channels in order to make their content look authentic and genuine.

Loktantra TV, U&V TV, AM Razvi, Gouravshali Pawan Mithilanchal, SeeTop5TH, Sarkari Update, and Sab Kuch Dekho are the seven Indian networks that have been blocked.

Utilizing emergency powers provided by IT Rules 2021, this most recent step also included the blocking of a Facebook account.

The channel that has been censored is News ki Dunya, which is based in Pakistan. The channels had a subscriber base of about 85.73 lakh.

Since December 2021, the Centre has disabled 102 YouTube channels and numerous other social media profiles.
