(The Quiver): On Wednesday, Shamarh Brooks defiant 79 led West-indies to a five wicket triumph over the top ranked side in the world in Kensington Oval at Barbados.

Asked to bat by the hosts, After a 41 run opening stand by F. Allen (25) and Martin Guptill (24), the visitors kept losing wickets, before a 40 run stand between M. Bracewell (31) and M. Santner (25) ensured New Zealand post a score of 193 inside 46 overs.
Kane Williamson top scored in the low scoring encounter with 34 runs.
In reply, Brooks’ 91-ball 79, which included nine fours and one six, gave his team the much-needed stability to reach 193 for five off 39 overs.
His 72-run fourth-wicket stand with captain Nicholas Pooran (28) kept the chase on track and guaranteed that the collapses that have become an all-too-common occurrence wouldn’t happen again.
Given that this was not the easiest pitch to bat on, it was crucial to at least get a start. Shamarh Brooks said after winning the Man of Match award.
