Bomb Explosion Takes 12 lives in Mogadishu

(The Quiver): On Friday, in the capital city of Somalia, An horrific incident took place in the hotel of Mogadishu where 12 civilians were killed in an bomb attack by Islamic militants.

In that evening, At the renowned Hayat hotel, fighters of Al-Shabaab Group made their way towards the hotel with gunfire’s and bomb blasts.

According to Sources, the initial explosion started with the a suicide bomber who went on to attack the hotel with other gunmen.

Hotel Hayat was targeted by two vehicle explosives. The first one struck a nearby barrier, and the second one struck the hotel’s gate.

The majority of those trapped inside the hotel building’s cordoned-off room were rescued while security personnel of Somalia continued to neutralize the terrorists.

Since Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Somalia’s new president, was chosen in May following several months of political unrest, this attack has been the largest to occur in Mogadishu.

In August 2020, Al-Shahaab was held responsible for another attack on Mogadishu which took lives of 16 people.
