Sri-Lanka Crowned Asia Cup Champions in Dubai

(The Quiver): On Sunday, Sri-Lanka registered a famous win by defeated Pakistan by 23 runs, to be crown Asia Cup champions. They clinched the trophy for the 6th time in the history of Asia Cup.

As it Happened

After sent in to bat, Sri-Lanka lost couple of early wickets which put them in check in the innings progression. Dhanajaya de silva did played a brisk cameo of 28 runs but Pakistan bowlers were on top gear as they reduced Sri-Lanka to 58-5 inside 9 overs.

Later, A comeback of swords was witnessed by the Dubai Crowd as Bhanuka Rajapaksa (71*) and Wanindu Hasaranga (36) stitched a crucial partnership of 58 runs to put them 116-6 in the 15 over mark. After the departure of Hasaranga, Rajapaksa steadied the innings to give Sri-Lanka a fighting total of 171 runs.

In the second innings, Pakistan lost their captain Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman quickly to Madusan (4-34) which give the visitors advantage. M. Rizwan (55) and Iftikhar Ahmed (32) carried the innings for some time, but the Lanka bowlers stuck onto their plan.

In the end, Sri-Lanka won the match by 23 runs in Dubai International Stadium.
