Chandigarh Hostel Video leak; University to Remain Shut till Sep 24th

(The Quiver): On Monday, the university has been closed for the students until September 24 due to a commotion following the suspected release of offensive videos from the Chandigarh University girls hostel in Mohali, Punjab.

The decision was made in response to the widespread student protests that demanded action in response to claims that a fellow hosteller had captured and posted offensive videos of many ladies on social media. Two suspects have been taken into custody and one has been detained in relation to the incident.

According to sources, A student was accused of filming female students as they were taking a bath in the hostel. Later, the video became widely popular on social media.

Communication breakdown has been the problem. We have made clarifications on numerous times. we are reassuring students that the law is being upheld and that all legal procedures are being followed. Deputy General of Police GS Bhullar said.

A 23-year-old Rohru resident called Sunny Mehta, with whom the female student is said to have shared “objectionable” films, has been apprehended by the police. A 31-year-old guy named Rankaj Verma was also detained after the girl who took the videos displayed his image.

Police have also taken the female student from Chandigarh University in Mohali into custody. She allegedly claimed that she had recorded videos of some girls and forwarded the tapes to a young man in Shimla.
