Archana Gulati Quits as Google India’s Policy Chief

(The Quiver): On Monday, just after Five months starting her position, Google’s head of public policy for India Archana Gulati has resigned from her designated post. 

The reasons for Archana Gulati’s sudden resignation were not immediately clear.

She served as a joint secretary for digital communications at Modi’s federal think tank, Niti Aayog, which is crucial to the government’s policy making across sectors, from March 2021 until her departure. He has worked for the Indian government for a considerable amount of time.

In India, Google is facing series of antitrust cases and stricter tech-sector regulations.

Google’s business practises in the market for smart TVs, its Android operating system, and its in-app payment mechanism are being investigated by India’s competition watchdog.

She oversaw a group of public policy experts at Google who examined the potential regulatory implications for the company in India which is one of its main emerging markets.

According to sources, she had previously worked as a senior employee in the Mergers & Acquisitions branch of the Competition Commission of India between 2014 and 2016.
