Collective Batting Effort help India seal Series

(The Quiver): On Sunday, India registered a 16 runs win against South Africa to seal the T20 series in Guwahati. India also wins their first T20 series against South Africa at Home.

As It Happened

After sending India in to bat, India got off to a decent start as the Indian Openers Rohit Sharma scored (43) and KL Rahul scored (57) in their 96-run opening partnership. After the 10th over mark, it was S. Yadav (61) and Kohli (49*) show that took India to an imposing target of 237 runs. Dinesh Karthik too made a contribution of 17 runs at the end.

Keshav Maharaj finished with figures of 2-24 runs.

Surya Kumar scored his 9th half-century as Virat became the first Indian to completed 11,000 runs in T20 cricket in all formats.

In the chase, South Africa suffer an early stutter as they lost 2 wickets in the 2nd over. Deepak Chahar (1-24) utilised the new ball quite well initially. After Aiden Markram’s brief knock of 33 runs, David Miller (106*) and Quinton De Kock (69*) gone on to make a 174 run partnership which was not enough as India won the match in the end by 16 runs in Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.

KL Rahul was adjusted Man of the Match for his 57 runs.
