Iyer and Kishan Give India Series Parity

(The Quiver): On Sunday, India registered a comfortable win in the second ODI against South-Africa to level the series 1-1. Shreyas Iyer’s (113*) and Ishan Kishan (93) ensured that India chased a competitive total of 279 runs in Ranchi.

The Proteas’ attempt to bat first didn’t go well as Quinton de Kock’s wicket was taken by Mohammed Siraj. Janneman Malan got off to a strong start by scoring 25 runs, but he was unable to maintain it.

Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram then added 129 runs for the third wicket to steady the visiting team’s ship. Hendricks was soon dismissed by M. Siraj for a well-made 74 runs. A. Markram also feel in quick succession for 79 runs.

Later, With an unbeaten 34-ball 35, David Miller helped South Africa reach 278 for the cost of seven wickets.

Mohammad Siraj was the standout bowler for India as he finished with 3-38 runs.

In the chase, India lost their captain Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill with the score 48-2 inside 10 overs. From there on, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan’s 161 run partnership deflected the visitors as they were unable to break their stand.

Kishan was unlucky to miss out on his century after hitting 93 runs, But Shreyas maintained his cool, scoring his second ODI century off just 103 balls.

He alongside Sanju Samson (29) finished the match with 25 balls remaining.

The final match will be played on October 11th at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
