Pakistan Threatens World Cup 2023 Exit for this Reason; Know More

(The Quiver): On Tuesday, in a forceful response to BCCI secretary Jay Shah’s claim that they would like to play the Asia Cup at a neutral venue, Pakistan threatened to withdraw from next year’s World Cup in India.

Following Shah’s remarks, PCB chairman Ramiz Raja said that the organization is considering several options, including pulling out of the 50-over ICC World Cup in India.

The executive board of the Asian Cricket Council decided that Pakistan would host the upcoming Asia Cup in 2023. Jay Shah also serves as the Asian Cricket Council’s president.

Since the ICC and ACC tournaments will incur financial losses and liabilities if Pakistan does not play India in these multi-team competitions, the PCB is now ready to make tough decisions and play tough games.

According to sources, “we don’t have anything to say right now, but we will consider the situation and bring it up in the right settings, such the ICC board meeting in Melbourne next month.”

Since the 2008 Asia Cup, India haven’t visited Pakistan, despite playing them in international or continental competitions. In 2012, Pakistan last visited India for a brief bilateral white ball series of six games.
