Risk of Brain Stroke may increase due to Lifestyle Habits

(The Quiver): The past few years have seen an increase in brain strokes in those under the age of 45 as a result of varied lifestyle choices.

Brain stroke affects more than 10% to 15% of adults under 40, studies have conducted in India. This calls for increased public awareness to encourage the younger generation to make healthy lifestyle choices, especially on World Stroke Day.

Because of their lifestyle, more young patients are having strokes. This includes poor eating habits and rising levels of stress in their personal and professional lives. Their vulnerability to stroke is increased by this. Dr Jaideep Bansal said.

These unhealthy habits can result in plaque accumulation, ischemic stroke, and arterial thickening. The inner wall of the artery becomes rough due to the plaque, which is the formation of fatty tissue inside the artery wall. Because of this, blood cells may flow unevenly and form a clot. He added.

What is Brain Stroke

A stroke is the sudden death or loss of brain cells brought on by blood clots. It could be due to an internal blockage of the artery known as a clot, a haemorrhage or the bursting of the artery, which could all result in the cessation of blood flow to that artery.

Strokes can be classified in two types- modifiable or non-modifiable.

Diabetes, hypertension, alcohol usage, obesity, cholesterol, and drug misuse are all modifiable risk factors.

Age-related alterations lead to non-modifiable strokes. In any case, arterial thickening is brought on by ageing and cannot be stopped. Non-modifiable strokes may potentially be influenced by genetic factors.

Lifestyle habits which can increase the risk of brain strokes:

Alcohol consumption

Stress

Smoking

Unhealthy Dietary habits
