Ishan Kishan Becomes Second-Most Expensive Indian Player In IPL Auction History

(The Quiver): The auction of the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is still on. The fate of many players changed on the first day of IPl 2022 Mega Auction. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians made a record-breaking bid for wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan as the franchise bought the young batter for Rs 15.25 crore.

Kishan provides additional flexibility to the management in terms of constructing the team around him. Kishan already has a strike rate of over 130 in all phases and has a favorable record against all bowling types apart from off-spin.

Mumbai Indians were quick to fight off Punjab first before going head-to-head in a bidding war with Gujarat. The bid escalated quickly with Gujarat pushing Mumbai beyond the 13 Crore mark. Hyderabad then threw their hat into the ring once Gujarat backed out. Mumbai though refused to back down despite the figure rising beyond the 15 crore mark and finally get their man for a whopping Rs. 15.25 Crore.
